The chat room creation form

This kind of room is associated with your nickname, and is stored on the Paltalk servers so you can open it and close it at will with all of your desired settings ready.  Other people can open this room in your absence provided you have given them your 'admin code' and have them added to your 'admin access list'. (if you have it enabled)

Regular user rooms can contain up to 250 participants!  All participants can talk, type and send and receive video, all at once!

To be able to see full streaming video a user would have to have a Paltalk subscription.  No subscription is needed to send video.

When you create a chat room you must provide some basic information.

Section 1

room name
The name of the chat room. You are not allowed to make any chat room with a title that defames, disparages or excludes any race, creed, religion, age group, gender, national origin, or any other organization, business entity or individual person.

You also may not make any chat room that condones or promotes the use of drugs, encourages software piracy, child pornography, or any other illegal activity.

category
Paltalk chat rooms are organized into categories. You will have to select from  the drop down lists which category and sub category you prefer.

There are main or 'top' level categories that indicate purpose, languages, or geographic regions.  There are sub-categories listed under the main or 'top' level categories that further define purpose, language, or geographic regions.

enabled features

 - voice enabled switch
when checked, indicates that you want to allow voice in the room unchecked indicates that it will be a text only room.

 - video enabled switch
when checked users will be able to share their web cam video with the room

intro message
An optional field. If specified, every time someone joins your chat room, they will be automatically greeted with this message.

rating
Similar to a movie rating. The options are G, R or A.

G rated rooms must be suitable to all audiences including minors. Text in G rooms is automatically filtered to eliminate possible offensive language.

R and A rated rooms are suitable for adults only and the text is not filtered what so ever. The difference between these ratings is that an A rated room allows sexually explicit language and activity where an R room does not.

note: users have to explicitly turn on an option to see adult groups (R and A) - see 'adult content filter' and 'parental controls'

key list
you can enter several key words to allow your room to be found more easily when users search for chat rooms by subject

separate keywords with a comma

group schedule
enter the days and times that your room is commonly open to let users know when is the best time to drop in for a chat

group description
enter a description of what your chat room is used for

Section 2 - Security and Administrative Rights

admin code
A 4 digit numeric code that is the key to joining your chat room with admin privileges. Select an admin code that is easy to remember but that does not contain a pattern (for example 3333 or 1234 would be bad choices).

Share this code with those users you wish to help you 'admin' your chat room.

lockword
An optional field. If you specify a value in this field, anyone not knowing your lockword will be prevented from entering your chat room.

Anyone trying to join your chat room will be asked to specify the lockword before they are allowed to enter.

Locked chat rooms are limited to a maximum of 5 users.

room admin
lets you enable a high security feature that specifies a list of people that are allowed to admin in your room

only users who are on this list, and who have the admin code to your room may enter or open the room as admin

use this feature if admins of your room are passing your admin code to others whom you have not approved to administrate your chat room

place a checkmark in the 'room admin' box to enable this feature

remove the checkmark from the 'room admin' box to disable this feature

be sure to press the 'edit admin list' button to build a list of users who may enter you room as an administrator when enabling this feature!

deactivate
disables your chat room from being used or opened by anyone regardless of their possession of your admin code or status on your admin access list

use this feature anytime you do not want your chat room to be used

nickname access list
lets you make your chat room 'members only'

this is a premium room feature that allows you to build a member list for your chat room

only those users who are specified on your nickname access list may enter the room

always visible room
this feature is only available for deluxe and ultimate rooms

this is a premium room feature that sets your chat room as 'always visible'

your chat room will show on the paltalk group list window even if it is unoccupied

Section 3 - Special Premium Room Features

display your own ad banners in your chat room window

this feature is only available for deluxe and ultimate rooms

note:  you cannot point to a raw graphic image - you must enter a url to a page that contains html

invite url
this feature is available to all club rooms, deluxe rooms, and ultimate rooms

this area will display a link that you can place on your web site

visitors to your web site will be able to join your chat room with their web browser

the invite URL is a special web page that contains a browser plug-in enabled version of your chat room, complete with voice, video, text, and all of the features that you expect of a Paltalk chat room

palcast url
this is a feature that is reserved for ultimate rooms only

this area displays a link that you can place on your web site

visitors to your site will be able to listen to an audio only feed of your chat room

the palcast URL is a web page with a special browser plug-in that allows visitors to your site to listen in on the audio of your chat room on Paltalk

your palcast listener capacity is the same as the size of your chat room, so if you have a 40 person room, 40 people can also 'listen in' on palcast

themed templates that will make your invite URL (web enabled chat room) fit in with the theme and color scheme of your web site

the submit button
you must press the 'submit' button at the bottom of the chat room creation form if you have made any changes on the form

if you have made changes to your chat room while it is open an occupied, you will have to close your room using the admin console, and then re-open the room before any of your changes will take effect

the exception to the above rule is the admin code - the admin can be changed at any time with no need to close and re-open the room

note: premium chat rooms have extra features that are not available to non-paid rooms - some features will be 'grayed out' or unavailable to non-subscribers of premium rooms
